The bonds these Harvard classmates made as students helped them to unite to fight a war with England and build a new democratic nation unlike any in their world.

Yet, some of them also united as loyalists, with allegiance to the British Empire that, as educated and skilled leaders, members of their families were serving on this side of the Atlantic.
