Qualifying Ancestors for Witch Society Members

Lineages for Joining Descendants of Colonial Witches Organization

Oct 9, 2009 Rosemary E. Bachelor

For genealogists, there is a serious side to all of the Halloween fun around witches. Thousands of Americans descend from ancestors wrongly accused of witchcraft.

Listed below are some tragic colonial Americans falsely accused during the era of witchcraft hysteria.

Lineage Society for Descendants of Colonial Witches

The Associated Daughters of Early American Witches is dedicated to honoring dozens of colonial Americans wrongly accused of practicing witchcraft. It is also interested in contacting their descendants. Only women over age 16 are eligible.

Qualifying Ancestors for Membership

Documented lines of descent from those on this list, or from other colonial Americans proven to have been falsely accused of witchcraft, qualifies family researchers to apply for membership. The society can help genealogists document lines of descent from so-called colonial society witches.
