Old Cemetery at Burk’s Flat: JOSEPH ALLEN, born Burk Fort, March 29, 1757. Marched on Lexington alarm; served at Bunker Hill; served one year under Capt. Thomas Alexander. Received pension. Had 9 children; died Dec. 28, 1828. CAPT. CALEB CHAPIN, born July 2, 1736. Served in French & Indian War; member of Committee of Correspondence in 1776, served at Cambridge; made captain July 1, 1781, 4th Co., 5th Regt., 2nd Brigade of 4th Div. of Militia. Had 5 children; died Nov. 10, 1815. LIEUT. JOEL CHAPIN, born Apr. 22, 1732, Springfield, MA; served with father in French & Indian War; also under Capt. Israel Williams & Maj. John Burk. On Committee of Inspection & Safety, 1775-1780; Sergeant, Capt. Agrippa Wells' Co., Col. Samuel Williams' Regt. of Minute Men, Lexington alarm; in Capt. Samuel Taylor's Co. of Col. Nicholas Dike's Regt., Roxbury & Dorchester Heights, 1776. Died either March 17, 1803 (gravestone), or 1805 (town record). Had 8 children. SAMUEL CONNABLE, bapt. Boston, Apr. 7, 1717; Private, 1775 & 1777. One of first settlers of Fall Town; had one of the four original forts. Had 7 children; died Dec. 3, 1796. JOHN CONNABLE (son of Samuel, above), born 1749. Private in Capt. Agrippa Wells' Co., 1775'. In Capt. Amasa Sheldon's Co. of Col. Elisha Porter's Regt., 1777; in Capt. Joseph Stebbin's Co., Col. David Wells' Regt. Had 13 children; died Aug. 26, 1813. SAMUEL GREEN, born W. Springfield, MA, Mar. 21, 1760. Served at Lexington. When 17, served at Ticonderoga; organized company at Bennington, VT; in four campaigns in 1777, 1778 & 1779--at Whitehall, NY, in Vermont, at New London, CT, and West Point, NY. Samuel died Aug. 18, 1841; he had 11 children. DEACON ELIJAH KINGSLEY, born Apr. 1, 1741 (Old Calendar); from Lebanon, CT. Served 5 years, French & Indian Wars; in Battle of Bunker Hill. Served as sergeant, Capt. Agrippa Wells' Co., Col. Whitcomb's Regt., 1775; on Committee of Correspondence & Safety, 1777-1779. He had 5 children & died Oct. 30, 1839. WILLIAM NEWCOMB, born Columbia, CT, Mar. 19, 1752. Served 9 mo., Capt. William Richards' Co., 1st Regt., Connecticut Line, 1777-78. Had 10 children;, died in 1822. ARAD SHELDON, born 1754. Served 3 years in Revolution. In 1775 was in Capt. Joseph Stebbins' Co,, Col. J. Brewer's Regt. Died Mar. 26, 1813; had 5 children. CAPT. JOSEPH SLATE, born Feb. 22, 1734. Served 5 years, French & Indian War. In 1776 was ensign in Capt. Taylor's Co,, Col. Dike's 2nd Regt. & lieut., Capt. Sheldon's Co, Col. Field's Regt. In 1777 was lieut. in Capt. Wells' Co., Col. Robinson's Regt., and in Capt. Sheldon's Co., Col. Porter's Regt. Joseph was captain of the 4th Co., 5th Hampshire Co. Regt:, Mass. Militia, 1780. He died Nov. 26, 1818; had 11 children. CAPT. JONATHAN SLATE, brother of Joseph, was born in 1742. He had 9 children and served 3 months in Revolutionary Army, 1776. New Cemetery at the VillageMAJ. SAMUEL ROOT, born Southington, CT, Feb. 11, 1763. Enlisted at age 16 in Revolutionary Army;l an orderly for General Washington. He died Dec. 18, 1829; had 9 children. ZEBULON/ZEBEDIAH SLATE, known as "Old Captain Zeb," born 1756, brother of Captains Joseph & Jonathan Slate, who were buried in the old cemetery. Zeb was a private in Capt. Wells' Co., Col. Whitcomb's Regt., in 1775. He had 13 children and died Oct. 12, 1833. Cemetery at Beaver Meadow(Part of Bernardston set off as Leyden in1784) CAPT. ELISHA BURNHAM, born CT, Feb. 12, 1730. On Committee of Correspondence, Inspection & Safety, 1775-77. He had 10 children; died May 28, 1815. LT. DANIEL NEWCOMB, born Nov. 18, 1741.
