» bockusblues - Current Class action suit

Having lived in Europe for many years now I am very curious if anyone can tell me if there has ever been a class action suit on behalf of the descendents of the 20 witches put to death, 2 of my ancestors included.

Thanks for any haep.

I know very little about the legal system, so this is only my opinion. I'm pretty sure there would be no grounds for such a suit because the people executed were tried and found guilty. The fact that the justice system of the period was grossly unfair isn't really a crime, well not technically.

Which ancestors of yours were executed, if you don't mind sharing that.

What an interesting question.

I think the trend to making reparations for ancient wrongs is a fairly recent phenomenon.

While I agree with Darlene, I also think this question is intriguing. I can think of one example locally where the government of today tried to make amends for the actions of a previous government, but it's not something you see too often.

It would be interesting to know more about these Salem ancestors, for sure.
